Step inside the story
Snufflebun has a plan...
Snufflebun wants to grow something really special for his seven younger siblings for Christmas. A big present for each one? Far too tricky. Something delicious? Also rather risky when Snufflebun is involved.

So off we go through Jumblewood, choosing, painting, planting and waiting for the right gift to grow. But waiting can feel very long when something green is sprouting nearby... and Snufflebun is trying ever so hard not to nibble.
What would you grow for someone you love?

FAQs
A few things grown-ups might like to know...
What age is Snufflebun Grows a Gift for?
Snufflebun Grows a Gift is created especially for children aged 3-5 to enjoy with a grown-up. Children can listen to the story, explore the illustrations, join in with simple activities and help decorate, plant and care for their own growing gift.
What is inside the book?
The book combines an illustrated Jumblewood Christmas story with colouring, simple activities, things to notice and explore, and a practical growing Make inspired by Snufflebun’s adventure.
What do we grow?
Together we can decorate a little pot or container and grow cress from seed, inspired by the gifts Snufflebun makes for his seven younger siblings. Once it has grown, our little pot can be shared, given to someone special or enjoyed at home.
Does the book show us how to grow the cress?
Yes. The book includes simple step-by-step guidance for planting and caring for the cress, along with ideas for decorating the pot and a grown-up materials list to help us gather everything before we begin.
Will we need special growing supplies?
Nothing complicated. We need a small pot or suitable container, cress seeds, something for the seeds to grow in, a little water and simple decorating supplies. The book includes a grown-up guide with ideas and alternatives so we can choose what works for us.
Will my child need help with the Make?
Yes. Snufflebun’s growing gift is designed to be something we do together. Children can help decorate the pot, sprinkle the seeds, notice the first shoots and watch their cress grow, with a grown-up helping wherever needed.
Is it just a Christmas story?
Christmas gives Snufflebun’s adventure its reason for making seven special gifts, but the story is also about patience, caring for something as it grows, thinking of the people we love and discovering that a small gift can carry a lot of thought.
Can we enjoy the book away from a screen?
Absolutely. Snufflebun Grows a Gift is a printed story-and-activity adventure designed for reading, colouring, talking, planting, making and watching something grow together away from a screen.
